Formed in 1995, Shape of Despair stand among the true pioneers of funeral doom metal. Their music is defined by glacial tempos, towering riffs, and a haunting interplay of deep growls and forlorn, ethereal female vocals, drawing the listener into vast, ill-lit twilight atmospheres. They carry a monumental sound that is both endlessly massive and painfully fragile, a crushing wave of grief to wash upon an entranced soul, extending to the innermost reaches of the self.
